New academic year in the sculpture studio, and as I had no idea what to create I faffed about for a while. Here's some of the creations...
Conkers! I have to walk through the park to get to work and through autumn there were just so many conkers!
Resin poured into a gap in the wood, that i think came from a chair. I liked the empty space and so fillled it. And voila, I then had the space itself as an object.
Same process, but with jelly! What was intresting with this is that the jelly seemed to evaporate and sink into the wood. So within a couple of days there was nothing left.
I'm not sure what inspired me to do this, but I guess I liked the contrast between the smiley faces and the scary danger sign. It reminded me of the toxic sign.
This is the beginning of the plastic spoon pieces. I work in a small cafe in town (The Hub Cafe) and they have an endless supply of plastic spoons that they just throw out. I think I felt sorry for them, I hate it when its my job to put them in the bin. So I started to collect them. There's something quite fascinating about used spoons.
