Provenance Symposium

A few weeks ago I got an email from Robert Fearns asking if I wanted to go to this symposium... of course I jumped at the opportunity, especially because of the Provenance title and even more so due to the artists that were involved, such as, James Putnam, Gavin Turk - House of Fairy Tales, Wunderkammer, Angela Cockayne, Mariele Neudecker, Jochem Hendricks and many many more.
We had a whole day of artist talks filled with gluten free snacks and sponsored gin! And then a trip to Corsham Court to see the exhibition!
Here are some pictures of the wonderful curiosities...

I love this window, the weirdly different coloured window pains.

Wood Pigeon, 2008
Julie Anderson

Anderson's work explores the poetics of objects. These pigeon's were shot and stuffed by her late father, and therefore have some meaning perhaps to her, however to the questioning audience it is perhaps seen as just another devalued taxidermy.

Mouse Skulls

These are just beautiful!! Since seeing them I have been so tempted to collect little skulls, of birds or mice. But I don't really have anywhere left to store them quite yet.

Tessa Farmer's Fairies

These are just 7mm tall and are made from plant roots and insect wings!!

  1. The fairies are cute!
The man with the claws on the other hand is rather creepy.
